Opened in 2013 by photographer Fredrik Broman, and Aurora Safari Camp is the first Arctic “glamping site” in the world and unique to northern Scandinavia. The camp is located by the Råne river in Swedish Lapland. Here you and the family can experience a real Swedish safari adventure! The clean air, the adventurous nature and not least the starry sky you experience at night here, with the Milky Way just above your head, is pure magic.

Arrival at Luleå Airport or by train to Älvsbyn Central Station. We take you with a comfortable minibus to Europe’s largest waterfall Storforsen in Piteälv (älv=river). Experience nature’s impressive spectacle and the power of water. We check into the hotel. Enjoy walks on your own in the nature reserve that surrounds the waterfalls, put on swimwear and jump from the rocks down into the natural small pools that form on the edge of the fall. In summer the water is relatively warm, in spring and autumn this is an experience for Vikings! Wild swimming. Dinner at the hotel (at your own expense, but we have reserved a table for you). Experience the midnight light.
Accommodation at Storforsen Hotel (double room with king-size bed or two separate beds – family room can be requested.
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the waterfall again in the morning and maybe a little later a delicious lunch in the log cabin by the fall (at your own expense). You will be picked up in the afternoon and drive on small roads towards Råne Älvdal, just over an hour west of Aurora Safari Camp. If you’d rather get here by canoeing or kayaking, you can too. Welcome drinks on the pier on arrival at the camp and then check into your comfortable tent hut. There are lots of activities to do here, and during your stay here we make sure to activate you, or you can also choose to just take it easy and enjoy life. 3-course dinner at Aurora Safari Camp. Breakfast at Aurora Safari Camp. We stay for a while and enjoy the morning in peace and quiet or with activities. Then we check out and if the weather is good we go to Sörbyn and swim and have lunch. Here is a nice beach, a good cafe and a restaurant with a tempting summer menu. Then we head north to the small Arctic village of Mårdsel, about 40 minutes by car from Sörbyn. We check into the comfortable The Outpost Lodge in the middle of the small village. Treasure hunt with the kids in the afternoon.
4-course dinner in your private cottage. Enjoy the sauna with snacks and drinks.
Accommodation at The Outpost Lodge in a private suite 102 sqm.
Breakfast at The Outpost Lodge. Today goes on a long moose safari. There are also good chances that we will see reindeer, hare, fox, golden eagle, sea eagle and maybe even a bear. But the bears are shy, and would rather not have contact with us humans. We eat an outdoor lunch, cooked over an open fire in this area which is roughly located on the Arctic Circle itself. We return to the lodge in the afternoon to relax, go to the sauna, maybe a game of evening fishing, a hike up Ole’s hill (really nice view). 4-course dinner also included today.
Breakfast. Then we take you back to either Luleå Airport or to the train station Murjeks Station not so far from Mårdsel. An experience in itself.
Thank you Lapland for this time!
Accommodation in comfortable cabins at Aurora Safari Camp.
The Outpost Lodge was originally a shop from the sixties in this small village on the Arctic Circle in the Swedish part of Lapland. Here you spend the night in good surroundings close to the large Swedish forests and the Råne river. 45 km downstream you will find Aurora Safari Camp.
After mid-August, it is often possible to see the northern lights if you are lucky.
Wake up in the beautiful surroundings of northern Sweden.
The fishing here is really good! There are lots of pike and perch and also salmon in the Storälven (during the salmon season).
Why does food always taste better out in nature?
In the wilderness, bubble water with accompanying northern Swedish delicacies tastes quite fantastic!
An adventure you will never forget!

Aurora Safari Camp has minimal impact on the environment around it, compared to “normal” hotels. The water you drink has been filtered through a sand bed, you have eco-toilets, a urine separation system, and waste from the site is transported to a biogas plant in a nearby town, which is then converted into fuel for the municipal buses. The birch wood used to heat the tents is from local suppliers. Birch wood is a biofuel, and birch grows fast. Transport to the camp takes place with a modern snowmobile with a catalytic system and a very energy-efficient engine (consumption approx. 8-10 liters per 100 km). The camp is not connected to the main grid. There are solar cells and LED lights that provide all the necessary light.
