● The Eriksberg Prize, which is awarded annually, must stimulate active use of nature’s different values and contribute to the funding of research related to the environment and the diversity that takes place at Eriksberg. Projects have been carried out on beetle species, fishing, butterflies, spiders, tree rejuvenation, bird life, lichen and moss, all of which have led to valuable discoveries and reports.

● Eriksberg has one of the world’s largest populations of the protected red water lily.

● Eriksberg also houses and protects 16 of Sweden’s 19 bat species.

● Approximately 90 hectares of protected bays in the Baltic Sea mean important play and growth sites for e.g. pike.

● It nurtures and preserves valuable natural and marine environments, which have been prioritized within Natura 2000. Eriksberg is part of the UNESCO biosphere reserve Blekinge Øhav.

Eriksberg’s sustainability work:

● The majority of food supplies is produced in the local area and is offered according to season . At Eriksberg, the hotel is largely self-sufficient in meat from their own farm. They have their own slaughterhouse and can therefore follow and control the entire process from forest to plate. The highest hygiene and veterinary control applies. The animal meat is healthy, climate-smart and free of antibiotics, dyes and additives.

● The restaurants and the hotel strive to use raw materials and products from local and / or organic producers.

● You sort your waste and recycle as much as possible.

● Geothermal heat is used for heating and cooling, and energy consumption is measured and evaluated continuously. Sweden’s ambitious environmental goal of halving energy consumption by 2030 has already been achieved.

Energy consumption for heating, cooling and production of hot water at Eriksberg has been changed to 100% renewable energy and has been reduced by approx. 60%. This is done by renovating and building carefully, and by using modern technology such as geothermal / mountain heat pumps and solar cells.

● The electricity on site comes from renewable energy sources, and the local partner for electricity is Karlshamn Energi AB.

● Eriksberg always chooses equipment with good and durable quality to extend its service life. This applies to, for example, computers, televisions, copiers, etc.

● You have your own laundry on site to minimize the transport of laundry.

● All types of engines used in tools, vehicles, tractors and boats are selected based on the greatest possible consideration for the environment and the total CO2 emissions.

● All minibars in the hotel have low energy consumption.

● It is possible to charge electric cars, both 230V and 400V / 16A.

● The new entrance building, Outdoor Eriksberg, is a “plus house”. Over the course of a year, the house produces so much electricity that it covers the house’s own consumption and can also supply energy to other houses.
