Fiska hummer_8

Experience exciting lobster fishing on Marstrand Island, enjoy a wonderful spa and follow in the footsteps of west cost history in the cozy town of Marstrand.

On Sweden’s west coast, autumn is the period when you fish for lobster. This is a very old tradition, and for the Bohuslän county, lobster fishing is just as important as moose hunting for those who live a little further north in Sweden. The starting shot for fishing is always the first Monday after September 20th, and usually one can fish until the end of December. You stay at Marstrands Havshotel on Koön opposite Marstrand. The location is perfect, right down to the sea. Here you get peace and quiet, fresh air, exciting gastronomy and a beautiful spa – including a floating sauna. To be able to book this trip, you must arrive at the hotel on a Thursday or Friday.

Sample Itinerary

Detta program är en inspirationskälla – varje resa är unik och skräddarsys för dig.
Day 1.: Marstrands Havshotell Foto: Benjamin Andreasson

Arrive at the hotel, check in to the room and then enjoy time in the spa (depending on arrival) before a 3-course dinner awaits in the hotel restaurant.

Day 2.: Fiska hummer på Marstrand

Enjoy breakfast before setting off on your lobster safari from 09:00.

You go out with local fishing experts on lobster fishing in the sea at Marstrand and in the beautiful archipelago.

You are involved in the process under the guidance of experienced fishermen. This means i.a. to pull the lobster cages up, empty them (if there is anything in!) put new bait on and throw the cage into the sea again. While fishing, the skipper tells you about the lobster’s life cycle, different fishing traditions and methods, and how the different things on board are used, and why fishing is such an important part of life on the Swedish west coast. After a wonderful day at sea, you return to the hotel, where a round of freshly caught oysters and sparkling water awaits. Maybe an hour or two in the spa before one (well deserved) 3-course dinner awaits.

Day 3.: Martrand vy

Enjoy breakfast and then take the ferry over to Marstrands (the ferry is paid on site, 33 SEK for adults and 25 SEK for children) to experience one of the island’s beautiful hiking trails. It is magical to experience the area by the lighthouse Skallen, where the two gardens Skagerak and Kattegat meet. Also do not miss Carlsten’s fortress (or before 1658 and from 1719 to 1720 Christiansteen fortress, remember that we are in the “old” Denmark) – an impressive defense facility at the top of the island and an obvious place to visit.

Have dinner in the bistro or wherever you want in Marstrand, where there are many good and cozy restaurants (this evening does not include dinner at the hotel, but can be purchased).

Day 4.: Bada bastu Havshotellet Marstrand

Enjoy breakfast and if you wish, you can enjoy the spa until 10:00.

The rooms: Hamnrum på Havshotellet Marstrand

What the room will look like depends a bit on how many of you travel together and what is available. For families there are family rooms or two separate rooms which can be opened into each other. There are also suites – ask us and we will find a good offer for accommodation in a suite.

The restaurant: Resturang Otto Marstrand

Enjoy the view and the food in Otto’s Restaurant.

Spa and wellness: Spa Havshotellet Marstrand

Relaxation, well-being and plenty of water. Possibility to order different treatments.
