Zanzibar is a holiday paradise with the most beautiful beaches, adventurous palaces from the time when a sultan ruled Zanzibar, fragrant herbs and vanilla, colorful clothesline and exciting shopping in the bazaar. Zanzibar is, of course, a relatively modern society by now, but the adventure is still here. Enjoy mango smoothies and exotic drinks, get lost in exciting Stone Town and relax in an exotic atmosphere.

Sample Itinerary
On arrival in Zanzibar you will be met by a representative from the hotel who will drive you to Matemwe Lodge. The hotel is located on the northeastern part of the coast, on a large coral cliff overlooking the most beautiful beach. The proximity to the water means that you can swim, dive and snorkel here, and some of the fish and shellfish may also land on your plate. Here at Matemwe, you will primarily spend time relaxing, getting massages, enjoying the most delicious gastronomy and just letting time go by.
Matemwe’s quiet location and laid-back atmosphere make this the perfect place to holiday with your partner. Relax in the hammock, enjoy a spa treatment or read a book by the pool or beach.
If you want to be active on holiday, here are super good conditions for diving and snorkeling. You can also paddle a canoe, go on long walks and get guided walks out to sea – with or without a fishing rod. Matemwe is a community where fishing is important. You will meet the locals on the beach, where you prepare the boats and equipment for the next trip out to sea.
Here are only 12 Beach Chalets in the large, beautiful garden. All houses have private terrace with sea views.
View from your terrace.
Stay 2 nights at the magical Emerson Spice Hotel – a hotel that takes you to a slightly different world. All rooms have been inspired by the world of film, music, opera or literature. Here are high ceilings, beautiful windows, stone bathtubs and a beautiful patio. The city’s most romantic hotel.
This beautiful and elegant hotel has its very own style – and 360-degree views of the world heritage city of Stone Town. Spend time on a danger a little wild in the narrow streets and alleys, where there is often something exciting to look at or taste. In the evening, have a romantic dinner in the hotel restaurant under the original ceiling lamps – and the food is top notch. Emerson Spice is in no way like other hotels, here there is no standard and each room has its own, unique style. There are not many hotels in the world like this.

When you book a stay here, you contribute to tourism, which supports the local community – and ultimately it means support for the local culture.
Emerson Spice and its sister hotel Hurumzi on Emerson have started their certification process with Responsible Tourism Tanzania (RTTZ) which is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
The company has taken on the principles of a triple bottom line approach and has now started to incorporate these into their day-to-day actions and communication. Emerson’s Foundation for Zanzibar is a not for profit organisation supporting the local community in Zanzibar Stone Town. The foundation is amongst other activities actively promoting local artists by offering exhibition space and a stage to local upcoming musicians in the two hotels. The hotel engages in clean up initiatives and keeping Zanzibar a plastic free area.
