Sample Itinerary
Arrival in Tanzania, overnight in Arusha. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be met by a guide who will take you to Mt. Meru Game Lodge, which has a beautiful location between Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. There is plenty of wildlife in the area: elk antelopes, ostriches, water bucks, zabras, buffaloes and black and white columbus monkeys. After dinner you probably go to bed early – it’s been a long day.
Have breakfast at the foot of Kilimanjaro before continuing on to Tarangire National Park. Here, walks in the bush, night safaris, and encounters with herds of elephants and buffaloes await. On to Olivers Camp, which is in a spectacular location – a place with many animals very close by.
You start the day by going out into the bush on foot. A walking safari allows you to focus on the small details of nature, and it is exciting to follow the wildlife right down to eye level.
Lunch in the camp and maybe a little siesta before you go on an afternoon safari – out into the wild to see the really big animals!
After a final breakfast at Olivers Camp, you leave the camp to travel on to the northern part of the Serengeti. Welcome and a short game drive trip to Sayari Camp. The Tanzanian Mara River is one of the greatest unexplored secrets in Africa, with plenty of wildlife – just like on the other side of the border in the Masai Mara in Kenya. After lunch, it is possible to relax for a while on your private terrace or by the pool. In the afternoon again time for safari – wondering what awaits you?
You decide how these days are to be spent. Take out early morning to return in time for lunch is an option. Or have breakfast in the camp, go out with a picnic basket and come enjoy in the afternoon. Relax by the pool and have fun as it suits you. Time is your own.
After breakfast we say goodbye to the savannah for this time. You fly to Zanzibar and on arrival you will be greeted by a guide from Matemwe Lodge. Located on the northeastern part of Zanzibar, the hotel is located on a coral cliff overlooking a white sandy beach. Here are great conditions for diving and snorkeling. Delicious food from the sea, well-shaken cocktails and relaxed days await!
Matemwe’s quiet location and relaxed atmosphere means you have the perfect conditions to do … nothing. Spend the day in your hammock, relax in the spa or take advantage of the active holiday options that are also available.
Go on a canoe trip, go for a walk, snorkel, dive or swim – whatever you feel like. Head down to the beach to see where the locals come home from the daily fishing trip, have a chat about the weather or something else.
The holidays are over. You will be picked up and the trip goes back home from Zanzibar (with change along the way).

These camps and lodges are run by a company that aims to develop the sustainable tourism industry. We are fortunate to be able to welcome guests to some of the globe’s most special and amazing places, places with amazing nature and with a great cultural and natural diversity. When you visit a place like these, you make a difference. The goal is to create tourism that generates money to preserve and develop the original environments and natural areas.
Here you support through a bednight fee of 5USD/person to create positive local impact. The camps ad lodges work closely with communities, authorities, NGOs and industry partners to achieve the best possible long-term outcomes for all concerned.
Some of the achievements include support for the ILA Vocational College in Arusha – a one-year Hotel and Tourism Management course for young Tanzanians. Another project is the Tarangire Lion Project – conservation of the lion population in Tarangire.
All camps are eco-conscious and several are certified and some have received awards from many well-known international organisations.
