Embark on an amazing and unforgettable train journey through Africa! Rovos Rail is a beautiful and authentically renovated English colonial-style train, where you feel transported back to a different time, and where the landscape unfolds as the train often moves slowly through South Africa’s spectacular nature and atmosphere. This is true luxury in the old fashioned way.
When the train journey is over, you will probably reluctantly leave your compartment but now another adventure begins: you are at the legendary Victoria Falls. The first European to see these amazing waterfalls was probably David Livingstone, a Scottish missionary and explorer – it was in 1855. You spend two nights at the Stanley & Livingstone Lodge, which is only a block from the falls.
But the adventure does not stop here. We have to continue into neighboring Botswana to stay on the beautiful houseboat Zambezi Queen. Now an exciting river safari awaits along the Chobe River.

Stanley & Just 15 minutes from the stunning waterfalls, Livingstone is ideal for travelers who want a tranquil and relaxing hotel experience. Here you get personal service and high quality of both accommodation, food and drink.
The beautiful and lush gardens at the hotel and the surrounding African bush form the backdrop for a rich bird and animal life.
All suites at the hotel are individually decorated and feature a living room, a Victorian-style bathroom and a separate bedroom. You can choose between King Size or Twin beds.
Enjoy a cocktail at the pool bar while you wait for the local elephants, kudus and water bucks and look past the waterhole which is only 25 meters away from where you sit.
After breakfast there is a transfer to the border with Botswana and the necessary formalities before you can board the Zambezi Queen.
Now start your river safari or shall we call it a decadent-style luxury cruise along the Chobe River.
A unique experience in the heart of the richest wildlife population on the African continent.
The activities on offer are safari to land or along the river and if you are an ornithologist, this is paradise of the rare.
You glide quietly forward on the river, and probably spend time being enchanted by nature and wildlife.
Chobe National Park has, among other things, the largest population of elephants in the world, approx. 120,000 individuals and here are also lions and leopards.
Here are also large groups of buffaloes and antelopes, and from time to time one can also spot pukus, a medium-sized antelope.
Let the ship and Africa rock you into a very special rhythm.
You leave Zambezi Queen for transfer to Kasane Airport, from where you fly to Savute Safari Lodge. The lodge is located on the banks of the parched Savuti River, where beautiful acacia trees gently move in the wind. The river has a very special rhythm, where it rains from November to April, but the area conversely can become arid from May – and especially in September and October.
It is a wild and beautiful area, with dried up and dead trees, elephants moving in search of food and water and an abundance of wildlife in general.
At times, the space can feel like something you would otherwise only be able to experience in a movie.
There are many options to choose from – enjoy the view of the river from the lookout terrace, have lunch al fresco in the restaurant or take a dip in the pool.
Or go on safari in a 4×4 jeep, where in addition to the beautiful nature you can experience the exciting Savute marshland and ancient wall drawings in the caves at Gubatsa Hills.
After breakfast there is a transfer by plane to Xugana Island Lodge.
The Xugana Lagoon is probably the most spectacular body of water in the entire delta. The location is in the giant Kalahari Desert and the lagoon is part of the Okavango River. The river originates in the highlands of Angola, but it never reaches the sea without at times flooding the dry desert sands and forming lagoons, canals and islands. In the heart of this strange inland delta, spend the night on the remote island of Xugana.
The lodge offers many activities: enjoy the view of the lagoon’s water from the restaurant, go on a motorboat or canoe trip, head over to one of the nearby islands with a guide or alone and explore the local nature. There are lots of birds to watch (remember good binoculars!) And you can also go fishing.
After breakfast, your return journey starts, with a flight to Kasane, on to Livingstone Airport and to the final arrival at the airport in Johannesburg for further travel.

Zambezi Queen
The first eco-friendly, floating boutique hotel in this part of Africa. Zambezi Queen crosses along the Chobe River, giving you as a guest a unique opportunity to see the rich wildlife and the beautiful nature from the first floor. Elephants, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, the rare puku, hippos and crocodiles come down to the river to drink and you have a great opportunity to spot them.
But there is more than luxury to this experience – sustainable, responsible tourism is the key word here. Zambezi Queen does not use a traditional propeller, but a water jet system that reduces any damage to the bottom of the river. The system also allows you to navigate safely even in places where the water level is low.
At night, the energy consumption of the ship is reduced to a minimum. Engines, lighting and other technical equipment are put into night mode, which also means that things make less noise. All the hot water comes from solar panels, and all taps are of the water-saving kind. No water is released from the ship to the river, but stored in tanks for later handling.
The 135 meter long ship has a library, board games and the like for free use, internet, restaurant and bar. Skilled chefs deliver exquisite meals. Pool on the ship’s upper deck. The ship sails all year round and stays can be booked for two or three nights.
Stanley & Livingstone’s
Nakavango Conservation Program:
“With its wilderness areas where animals live in the most beautiful scenery, the landscape at Victoria Falls is still for the most part virgin field”.
Based on Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve, Nakavango Conservation Center has the mission to make a difference at Victoria Falls. One wants to protect and educate the local community.
The vision of the Nakavango Conservation Program is to protect the natural environment for the sake of future generations. This includes, among other things, the project “Children in the wilderness”.
Stanley & Livingstone Private Game Reserve is the only area at Victoria Falls that can call itself a “Big 5” area, this due to the presence of the black rhino. A protection zone (IPZ) has been set up to keep poachers out of the area, and the goal is for the population to increase. The area is also part of KAZA, a joint organization that supports sustainable tourism in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Angola.
Savute & Xugana Lodges
Every detail is monitored and optimized to reduce any environmental impact here. For example, all waste is stored in animal-safe storage containers, and you recycle and recycle as much as possible.
Water from dishwashing and washing is used to water lawns and pray. The water is tested regularly.
Power is supplied by a diesel generator, which is located in a soundproof room to reduce the noise impact of the machine. The exhaust is cleaned of particles and one tries to limit the use of the generator as much as possible by using only the power that is really needed.
Hot water and on-site stoves use gas.
Water for showering, washing clothes and textiles in and for cooking with comes directly from the delta. The water is purified in a sand filter and is subsequently safe to drink. The quality is monitored continuously.
