Madagascar
This extraordinary island, which was created during the division of the Gondwana super-continent about 165 million years ago, carries a heritage of a rich flora and fauna that does not exist anywhere else on earth. There are, of course, the famous lemurs - at least 100 species, but that's not all; About 80 percent of Madagascar's plant species are endemic, as are 90 percent of its reptiles. According to Conservation International, only 17 countries in the world are considered "megadiverse", each has a large number of different species - many are found nowhere else and Madagascar is one of those places. There are also fantastic beaches and a rich underwater life where you have the opportunity to see turtles, whales and dolphins to name a few.
